“I never touched a paint brush until age thirty-five,” Kelly Curry says proudly. But in the past decade, she has painted over 250 murals in seven states.
I am originally from Alden, NY. I started painting outdoor murals in 1999 under the tutelage of Charlie Flagg, a noted folk art artist. By 2002 I moved to Clearwater Florida where I perfected my craft and painted murals in the central and northern areas of Florida until 2006. In August 2006 I moved to New Orleans where I worked as a Jackson Square street artist and painted over 100 interior and exterior murals. I worked with numerous interior designers refurbishing murals damaged by hurricane Katrina. I also do theme decorating for commercial spaces such as bars, restaurants, office spaces and cultural centers. For the last three summers I have been painting large exterior murals in two small towns along the St. Lawrence river, Clayton NY and Alexandria Bay NY. My work has been published in newspapers and magazines and have also had several television interviews in the NY area. To date I have 11 murals in Northern NY and have recently moved to Alexandria Bay NY.
