Mary Compeau, Artist, Painter, Community Organizer!
Mary Compeau was born in Odgensburg, NY and has painted professionally for the past 34 years she considers herself a Northern New York Artist. Her paintings depict scenes typical of Northern New York and the New England states. The natural landscapes of the Adirondacks, rustic homes, the St. Lawrence River and wildlife typical of the New England states are common subject material of Mary’s artwork. She paints primarily in watercolor, acrylic and oils and has 2 new prints this year titled, “Opening Day,” and “Adirondack Red Camp.” Both paintings will be available as Gi-Clee prints on both canvas and paper. She also has limited edition prints on ceramic pieces available this year.
Mary was a Featured Artist at the Harbor Hotel in Clayton May of 2015, 2016 and 2017 for
“A Night on the River.” Sponsored by The Children’s Family Clinic in Watertown, NY.
She was also the Featured Artist for the Carthage Area Hospital Art Auction, Feature Artist for the EJ Noble Hospital Fashion Show for 1999-2007. Featured Artist for the River Hospital event, “Festive Evening” in 2012-16 and Featured Artist for the Carthage Chapter of Ducks Unlimited in 2006. Mary was also a Feature Artist for Kinney’s Children’s Miracle Network Fundraiser in 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006, 2007-2009.
Compeau’s Studio is located next to her residence on the Old Goose Bay Rd. 46518 County RT 1, Alexandria Bay, New York. There have been “Compeau Prints as well as Compeau Originals” featured in Art Auctions Nationally as well as locally such as the WNPE-WNPI Public Art Auction, American Red Cross Art Auction, Kinney’s Children Miracle Network Art Auction, Hospice Art Auction, SPCA, Credo Foundation, E. J. Noble Foundation and the Women’s Hospital Auxiliary to name a few.
Mary has taught Art at the Carthage Central School District for over 38 years. She also teaches Art during the summer at the Carthage Central School District CASE Program and is the President of the Alexandria Bay Chamber of Commerce. Mary has 2 daughters and 5 grandchildren.
